CACAO, PB, DATE & SESAME PASTE

This paste is extremely addictive, in fact one customer (I sometimes put this in the delivery bundles) wrote ‘“Kate, this date and black sesame paste is like CRACK, omg it’s amazing!”, another wrote “I have just eaten that whole pot of date collagen deliciousness in one day”. It’s a sticky chocolatey paste, that can be used as a spread, a dip, added to smoothies and much more. (see ideation image below for suggested uses, or just eat it with a spoon! As with all my recipes, you can add more more more goodness always… I sometimes add grass fed collagen which may benefit your bone, skin, and joint health, supporting cell repair and growth, a nutrient dense powder, neutral in flavour, odourless and totally soluble, so really easy to incorporate into cooking, drinks etc! I love to enjoy this paste stirred into chia and quinoa overnight pudding or oats with my homemade raspberry, chia & nettle jam w/ maca (Peruvian Ginseng), optional of course. Click here for that recipe! I also love popping a dollop of it in my smoothie as it sweetens it up good and proper. As always I advise making it in a big ol’ batch and using in a myriad of ways!

TO GATHER

2 handfuls pitted dried dates (soaked in water to soften, drained but save that sweet syrupy water!)

1tbsp black sesame seeds

2 tbsp cacao powder

2 tbsp favourite peanut butter

A dash of water, if needed to loosen, ideally the sweet syrupy water you saved!

a teeny pinch pink himalayan salt

HOW CAN I EXTEND THIS?

Extra seeds of choice / any nut butter/ freeze dried raspberries/1/2 a banana/ grass fed collagen powder/ 1 tsp ghee for a rich buttery taste/ 1 tsp of your favourite adaptogen powders. Ashwaganda, Reishi and Chaga are available in the Home Apothecary Library, individually or as a bundle, delivered to your store, and great for weaving into the day to day to support overall health, including but not limited to immune support, aiding the cardiovascular system and nervous system to regulate and balance for optimal health.

TO DO

/ Soak the dates in water for around 1 hour, which will make them soft- you can blend usoaed dates, it will just make your blender work harder and need more water, but totally do-able if needed!

/ Pop the dates, peanut butter, sesame seeds, cacao powder in a blender and blend until smooth, adding water to loosen. play around with a texture you like! Also if adding any other nutritive ingredients as per ‘how can I extend this’ suggestions, just add them in with everything else, and jobs a goodun!
